Recent Project
Inn at the Mill
The Inn at the Mill embraces a
historic landmark listed on the National Register for Historic Places, formerly
known as Johnson Mill. This historic Inn was the first project that architect
James Lambeth designed utilizing an existing structure.
Being legally registered as a
tax-paying business in 1835, the mill has the distinction of being the longest
running business in the state of Arkansas, and possibly the longest continually
operated mill in the nation.
The owners of the hotel
contacted WDI in the spring of 2006, and requested it to create customized
furnishings and granite vanities for the refurbishment of the hotel. The design
team from WDI worked with the owners of the Inn at the Mill and their architect
to create a look that would combine the feel of the historical property and
become the most luxurious hotel in the state. A representative from the Small
Luxury Hotel of the World (www.slh.com) visited during the fall, and based on
the samples and insight gleaned from the visit, the Inn at the Mill became the
first ever Small Luxury Hotel property in the state of Arkansas. The final
aspects of the refurbishment are underway and the hotel re-opened with the Small
Luxury Hotel accreditation in the spring of 2007.
